We’ve been answering a lot of Facebook questions this month, and decided to compile the most popular questions (and answers!) here.

Question #1: How do I name my business page with a custom URL?

Answer: visit http://www.facebook.com/username.  You will see a box at the top of the page that lists your personal page username if you have it set, followed by a box for the pages you own.  Select the page you want to name from the drop down list, enter the name you want, then click “Check Availability” and follow through the prompts.  Before clicking on the final OK to name your business page, triple check it because you won’t be able to change it once you confirm it.

Question #2: How do I un-friend someone?

Answer: click to the page of the person you want to un-friend or de-friend, and scroll to below the list of friends on the left-hand side of the page where there will be a short-list of options, including “Remove from Friends.”  A pop-up box will ask you to confirm with options for “Remove from Friends” or Cancel.  Click on “Remove from Friends” to complete the un-friending process.

Question #3: How do I view my newsfeed by friend list?  I used to click on ‘friends’ on the left side and then click on the list I wanted to see, but the lists are gone!

Answer: click on the small arrow next to “Most Recent” at the top of the newsfeed and a drop-down will appear with a few of your friend lists.  Click on “Choose another…” and all of your lists will be displayed.  Click on the list you want to see and the newsfeed for that list of friends will be displayed.

Question #4:  I am trying to link my business page to Twitter and nothing happens when I click on “Link to Twitter.”

Answer: click to http://www.facebook.com/twitter and scroll to the page you want to link to your Twitter account.  There are two ways you can successfully link to Twitter:

  1. Click on the “Link to Twitter” button and then look in the Address bar in your browser where the URL should now look something like http://www.facebook.com/feed/export/....... Highlight the link and press the Enter key.
  2. Right click on the “Link to Twitter” button and copy the shortcut.  Open a new browser window, copy the link into the address bar, and press enter.

Either of these should open a Twitter page where you can type in your username and password and allow access to Twitter.

Question #5:  Can I post status updates on my business page from my mobile phone?

Answer: Yes!  How you do this will depend on the type of phone you have.  Click to your business page on Facebook, click on “Edit Page” (under your logo) and then click on “Mobile”.  You can post via mobile e-mail, mobile Web, Facebook for iPhone application, or text message and the instructions for all are provided right there on the “Mobile” page.
